ISLAMABAD: The Food, Beverages and Agro-sector exports to Emirates has touched approximately US$ half a billion mark and there was a 27 percent jump in food exports to UAE in two- year.
This was stated by S. M. Munir, Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) while inaugurating Pakistan Pavilion in Gulfood 2016 Exhibition the otherday, says a message received here from Dubai today.
S.M Munir said that Pakistan has boosted sales of its traditional agricultural products while simultaneously expanding its reach into new product areas such as processed meat and poultry products, tea, concentrated milk and cream, certain fruits and vegetables, spices, herbs and confectioneries,” he further elaborated.
He added that persistent efforts of TDAP and Pakistani exporters have yielded positive results.
Pakistan Pavilion in Gulfood 2016 Exhibition comprises more than 92 companies in Food sector.
Pakistan Pavilion was the most ambitious display of Pakistan’s Best of Food Potential to GCC, Middle East and Northern African markets.
In pursuance of Diversification of Pakistani exports, TDAP has arranged participation of biggest number of Pakistani companies to showcase their products in World’s biggest Food Expo”, said the Chief Executive TDAP, S. M Munir.
Pakistani companies’ representation in Gulfood 2016 pavilion has grown from a mere 90 square metres in 2008 to 1,000 square metres this year, reflecting the emergence of a major exporting sector that is now challenging textiles as Pakistan’s main foreign exchange earner with worldwide sales topping US $5 billion last year.
