FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Sarai Muhajir has foiled an attempt to smuggle 9385 kilogram fresh apples worth more than Rs 2.8 millions. FIU also impounded Hino truck worth Rs 1.5 million which was being used for smuggling purpose.

Sources told Customs Today, the anti smuggling staff of Customs Intelligence received information that huge quantity of foreign origin apples were being smuggled. At the time of occurrence one Noor Islam son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Kas Banda Qaldara P.O Dargai district Malakand was driving the Hino truck. Apparently the said truck was loaded with Afghanistan origin apples. Thorough search of the truck was conducted in presence of witnesses and driver which led to the recovery of the 9385 basket of foreign origin apples.
