HELSINKI: ABB has signed a major agreement with the Turkish utility Cengiz Limak Kolin (CLK) to upgrade the utility’s electrical grid for this purpose ABB will deliver 5500 protection relays that detect and report faults in the network, said company official.
ABB’s delivery will strengthen the power distribution network in the regions of Istanbul, Bursa, Antalya and Sivas. This is ABB Finland’s single largest protection relay delivery ever. According to the company, it will secure the uninterrupted power supply for around 10 million people in Turkey.
“The growing Turkish electricity market is a major opportunity for Finnish energy and environmental technology. Intelligent power grids are only just making their way into Turkey. ABB can offer intelligent power grid technology to improve the efficiency of both the use and distribution of energy. This deal is a major break-through in this growing but fiercely competitive market,” says head of business Antti Hakala-Ranta from ABB.
