FBR Member Inland Revenue (operations) Dr Mohammad Irshad, during a joint meeting of traders and members of the Tax Bar Association at regional tax office, issued directives to the chief commissioner regional office and other senior officers to ensure timely solution to the problems in order to facilitate the taxpayers. He said the regional chief commissioners were fully authorised and mandated to resolve issues of taxpayers at the earliest. Irshad urged the precipitants to join hands for broadening the tax net to boost country’s economy.
The participants apprised the FBR official about problems faced by them with respect to online filing of returns and slow pace of issuance of refunds. They called for overhauling the system to avoid wastage of time. The traders also asked for further strengthening the NTN desk to reduce burden on existing limited staff, saying that taxpayers had to wait in long queues for their turn and many of them had to repeatedly visit the office only for availing NTN number.
