FBR starts taking action against scores of tax evaders in big cities

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has begun taking action against scores of tax evaders residing in big cities of the country.

The FBR has gathered information of 167 individuals living in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Abbotabad, Lahore, Karachi and Hyderabad who have evaded taxes while purchasing properties and vehicles.

The details include their names, Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) numbers and financial information including pre-tax incomes for 2013-14 and onwards.

Details of the total taxable income and applicable taxes have also been sent and it is expected that notices asking the people to explain their sources of income will be sent by the next week.

According to the documents, 24 of the richest tax evaders identified in the list belong to Islamabad while 23 belong to Lahore. A total of 20 people each from Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Abbotabad, Karachi, Hyderabad and Bahawalpur have also been included in the list.

As per details, the tax evaders from Islamabad include Ejaz Tariq, Naheeda Begum Awan, Shabnam Safdar, Iftikhar Masood, Amir Shahzad, Jawad Sohrab, Muhammad Shahroz, Safdar Ali, Mukhtar Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Aftab Khan, Muhammad Ali Chaudhry, Muhammad Faheem, Asim Imtiaz Abbasi, Ramzan Achakzai, Kamil Rehman, Faisal, Fida Muhammad Malik, Waheedur Rehman, Manan Mansoor and Yousuf Mubashir.

Faisalabad residents whose names were sent to regional tax offices include Akhtar Hussain, Saif Khalid, Hafeezur Rehman, Muhammad Ramzan, Khalid Aziz, Jamila Begum, Haider Abbas, Zewar Khatoon, Chaudhry Iqbal Aziz, Zubair-ur-Hasan, Javed Iqbal, Shaikh Tanvir Zia, Zakia Batool, Muhammad Afzal, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Umme Laila, Nauman Tariq, Riyasat Ali, Sardar Salabat Khan and Faizan Arshad.

The 20 people identified for tax recovery in Abbotabad are Ghulam Shabbir, Muhammad Nabeel, Fida Hussain Shah, Abdul Wahab, Shujaat Khan, Humaira Iqbal, Dr Muratib Shah, Adeel Yousuf, Ghulam-un-Naseer, Muhammad Aslam, Rafiq Khan, Gul Zaman, Tariq Khan, Wasim Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Muhammad Rafiq, Chaudhry Khalil Ahmed, Shamrez Khan Jadoon, Saqib Jamil and Shaharyar Ali Khan.

The 20 people whose details have been sent to the regional tax office of Hyderabad are Liaquat Ali, Riasat Ali Rajput, Dilip Kumar, Manik Chand, Tehwan Mal, Samreen Muhammadi, Faisal Rehman, Dr Ruqqayya Ejaz Talpur, Amjad Ali Shoro, Muhammad Khan, Ayaz Ahmed, Hamid Mumtaz, Muhammad Rehman, Seema Zahid Doctor, Sohail Ahmed, Muni bur Rehman, Muhammad Umar Farooq, Mahoosh Khan, Asif Ali, Shamshad Jatoi and Abdul Sattar Sheikh.

The 20 rich people who have been identified for tax recovery in Bahawalpur include Farrukh Azeem, Shams Roy, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Rafiq, Saif Rehman Chaudhry, Sarfaraz Dogar, Zainul Abidin, Zohra Mehmood Malik, Fehmida Anwar, Muhammad Siddiq, Asif Mehmood Bajwa, Umair Ahmed, Rana Sohail Ashraf Khan, Shahzad Anjum, Ahsan Ahmed, Abdul Sattar, Ghulam Mustafa, Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Ishaq Khan and Adeel Khalid.

The 23 people from Lahore include Kamran Kiyani, Nadeem Zia Pirzada, Syed Ajmal Javed, Warda Naqvi, Tahir Javed, Nadeem Bashir, Subhan Ahmed Khan, Abdul Rauf Saleemi, Malik Ashraf, Iqbal Shafiq, Waheed Farooq Chaudhry, Hasan Malik, Asif Iqbal, Irshad Akhtar, Ayesha Israr Khan, Raja Akbar Hasan, Zulfiqar Hussain, Zakaullah Dogar, Muhammad Sarwar, Farooq Rasool Chaudhry and others.

The 20 people from Gujranwala include Muhammad Mushtaq, Muhammad Azam, Nasir Ali Cheema, Muhammad Ali, Abdul Sattar and others.

Names of people from Karachi are Farhat Imrana, Rafiqi Rafiq Memon, Muhammad Air Sodagar, Muhammad Junaid Shaikhani, Hasan Zaidi, Shahzad Ali, Zafar Iqbal, Talib Ali, Norain Afzal, Ghulam Shabbir, Moosa Khan, Umair Sohail Siddiqi, Salma Majid, Jannat Kumar Chawla, Zahida Farooq Kasmani, Nawazish Akbar and Ruksana Rafiq.
