ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to split the existing jurisdiction of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Customs into two directorates i.e. Customs Intelligence Enforcement and Customs Intelligence Anti-Smuggling. The order shall come into force with effect from July 1, 2015.
According to the Customs General Order no. 01 of 2015 received to Customs Today, the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Customs Enforcement would perform anti- evasion work and monitoring of customs clearances and other related matters in the jurisdiction of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West, Karachi; MCC Appraisement-East, Karachi; MCC Preventive, Karachi; MCC Port Qasim, Karachi; MCC Exports, Custom House, Karachi and MCC Exports-Port Qasim, Karachi and Model Customs Collectorate, Hyderabad.
While the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Customs Anti-Smuggling, Karachi would perform anti-smuggling and preventive related work in the jurisdiction of Model Customs Collectorate Preventive, Karachi; MCC Hyderabad and MCC Port Qasim, Karachi.
The office order added that the respective offices and officers of the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation shall continue to function, exercise powers and discharge duties under Section 3A of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3E ibid, notifications and instructions issued there under.
