SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to revamp the organisational structure of Gujranwala Regional Tax Office (RTO) for increasing collective performance, as it is going to reintroduce circle system by abolishing town system, besides increasing the number of the zones from two to three.
According to the senior FBR officials, this new system would be started at the Gujranwala RTO from September 01, 2016 and after this the massive reshuffling of the senior FBR officials would be held there.
Earlier, there was town system in the RTO since 2008 under which all the areas were divided and incharge of every town was the senior officer of Grade 17 or 18 i.e. assistant commissioners and deputy commissioner.
Now, after a spam of eight years, the FBR has revived the circle system by abolishing the town system for increasing the tax net, as there had been 27 circles here before 2008 and now the number of these circles would also be increased. The departments of revenue, enforcement, legal cell and audit would work under this new circle system.
Now, the FBR has also decided to establish another tax zone. Earlier, there are two RTOs of Gujranwala and Sialkot.
The officials added that RTO Chief Commissioner Habibullah Khan would issue the formal notification, within next couple of days.
