LAHORE: A new terminal at Wagha border is being constructed to facilitate traders, importers and exporters of Pakistan. Development department of Federal Board of Revenue has issued more funds of Rs 40 million for construction of new terminal at Wagha border to enhance trade facilities between Pakistan and India.
According to sources of Customs Today DDWP had approved funds of Rs 40 million initially for construction of new terminal at Wagha border and district coordination officer Lahore has acquired land for this purpose.
Sources told that DC Lahore has acquired this land of 10 acres at Wagha border under section 4.
Sources told that Pakistan will complete this terminal of Wagha port before 2019. For this purpose all relevant departments have started their work to complete this work on time.
Old trade terminal at Wagha border is not as per requirements of trade volume and it was dire need to construct new and vast terminal as trade activities are expected to increase in future.
Specially during arrival and departure of Sikh pilgrims heavy rush creates problems for customs officials in clearance. Now newly constructed terminal will facilitate the traders and pilgrims as well.
