ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has issued procedure for regularisation of unregistered mobile devices.
The FBR, through SRO 1455(I)/2018, has allowed the Customs authorities to release the seized non-duty-paid mobile devices after payment of applicable duty and taxes without imposition of any fine.
The FBR has directed that mobile devices (with SIM or IMEI functionality) brought into Pakistan in violation of the provisions of clause (s) of section 2 of the Customs Act, 1969, which have been seized or voluntarily presented to Customs authorities before December 31, 2018, will be allowed release on payment of application duty and taxes payable with imposition of zero fine.
In this regard, Additional Collector of Model Customs Collectorates has been empowered to exercise the powers of the collector under clause (i) of sub-section (1) of section 179 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV)
Moreover, the Deputy Collector and Assistant Collector have also been granted powers of Additional Collector under clause (ii) of sub-section (1) of sections 179 of the said Act.
