ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued audit notices to former federal minister, e-MPA and PTI leader for not timely filing income tax returns.
Official sources told Customs Today that FBR has issued audit notices to former federal minister Sikandar Bosan, former member Punjab Assembly Shehzad Maqbol Bhutta and PTI leader Khalid Waleed Warriach for not timely filing income tax returns and directed them to conduct special audit of their outstanding tax returns till December, 31 2018 or take advantage of audit exemption by paying 25 percent extra taxes, sources confirmed.
Sources said that FBR issued audit notices to more than 100 traders, businessmen and industrialists who belonged to Multan to conduct an audit of their outstanding dues and taxes as they failed to file their income tax returns.
It is important to mention here that FBR also offered to abolish audit cases on payment of 25 percent additional tax, besides extending the date for submission of revised tax returns for individual taxpayers till December 31.
Meanwhile, cases of hundreds of thousands of salaried persons selected for the audit have been settled without the collection of any additional taxes.
