ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has terminated almost 163 employees of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) working on contract.
Officials said that the FBR’s IT functions would be seriously affected following termination of a large number of IT professionals from PRAL. The PRAL was established in 1994 as a small IT setup is now one of the largest information solution provider company in Pakistan with nearly 1300 employees and presence in all major cities of the Pakistan.
Almost 13 employees of PRAL from Multan region have been terminated from their jobs.
According to well-placed sources of Customs Today that most of the employees’ contracts have been expired and management were also not interested in the further extension of their contract due to some unknown reasons.
FBR So far, 163 contract employees have been sacked including employees from Punjab Revenue Authority and Punjab Excise Department, besides terminating supervisors, call centre operators, facilitation officers posted in the National Bank of Pakistan and State Bank of Pakistan, etc.
Almost half million taxpayers all over the country avail electronic services at the taxpayer facilitation portals developed, operated and managed by PRAL.
On the other hand, terminated employees also staged a protest in front of FBR office in Islamabad and urged the Chairman FBR, Tariq Bajwa to cancel the termination of them.
