PESHAWAR: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has took notice of using confiscated and impounded vehicles by the customs officers at different customs Collectorates throughout Pakistan.
The sources informed Customs Today that upon the direction all such vehicles which were under use of customs officers will be handed over back to the customs ware house with immediate effect.
The sources further said that there are officers who have been using two to three vehicles from couple of years and after the order passed by Supreme Court let see how many of the NDP vehicles had been handed over back to Customs Warehouses.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has expressed serious concerns on the use of jeeps/luxury vehicles by the officers of FBR which are confiscated at once and directed the Competent authority that all such jeeps including Land Cruisers , Prado, Parejo , SUV and other vehicles should be handed over to respective customs warehouses.
The double cabs exclusively used for operational purposes shall immediately be surrendered to customs warehouses the FBR directed the officers.
It has been also learnt that the vehicles have been under use of high ups and their family members despite the mean to be confiscated and sell out at public auctions.
The Federal Board of Revenue has directed the officers of field formation on Friday to ensure immediate compliance of these directions. Any violation of the above directions shall be viewed seriously by the competent and shall entail disciplinary actions.
The sources in Customs House Peshawar informed Customs Today that upon the direction laid out FBR all such vehicles which were under use of Customs officers will be handed over back to the customs ware house with immediate effect.
