ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to resolve all the 31,000 of pending tax cases through third party committees, the board will establish alternative resolution committees under the leadership of retired session judge it is learnt here.
Official sources told Customs Today that FBR has planned to resolve the pending tax cases in different forums which is at least 31,000 and for this purpose the board will establish different committees will be headed by a retired session judge, the board will pay to these committee heads a lump sum amount of Rs2,00,000 while the members of the committee will get Rs1,000 sources added.
Sources further told that both the FBR and the applicant will be bound to accept the decision of the alternative resolution committee however, criminal proceeding cases and cases which needs further law explanations will not be sent to these alternative dispute resolution committees.
The basic aim of establishment of these committees is to facilitate the taxpayers and in this regard the board will amend the section 321 of Income Tax Rules 2002. The board has already prepared the draft and will be sent to all the stakeholders for their suggestions and recommendations sources confirmed.
