ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has informed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) through a letter that the kits provided by US agency FBI for detection of explosives material are expired. MCC has asked the FBR to bring the fact into the notice of the US authorities and ask them to provide the chemical required to make these kits workable.
According to MCC higher authorities last year, upon the request of the US government, the FBI gave Pakistan Customs kits to tackle smuggling by roads. The aid included Night Vision Glasses, Bullet Proof Jackets and kits to detect the intensity of explosive All Postsmaterial. The explosive detecting kits chemical is expired since 2013 due to which the kits are of no use.
MCC told FBR that if US do not provide the chemical than the objective for the provision of these kits will not be served.
