FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded four non-duty paid vehicles on 20.1.2020.
Sources told Customs Today , that Additional Collector Ali Abbas Gardezi receive credible information that some non-duty paid vehicles are plying on roads of Faisalabad. He immediately constituted a team. The team intercepted various vehicles and checked documents. The team impounded Toyota Hilux Surf Vigo bearing registration no: SA-414 model 2006 having engine capacity 2400 CC worth Rs5 million.
During second raid ASO team intercepted Toyota Vitz car bearing registration no: DG-15-219 model 2005. The ASO sources said that the cars have been confiscated due to non-payment of duty and taxes on the vehicles following the instructions of Collector of Customs Muhammad Saleem. The ASO team detained a Toyota Hilux Surf bearing registration no LED-13-176 model 2000 having engine capacity 2600 to the tune of Rs 3 Million.
According to the official sources s detained a Honda Reborn Hybrid car seems to be non-customs paid worth Rs24 million. The sources said that the vehicles were non customs paid and tempered and were being illegally used.
They added that the vehicles have been sent for their laboratory tests. It was also said that investigation is also underway following the registration of the case.
Additional Collector Ali Abbas Gardezi told Customs Today that superintendents and inspectors of the organization have been instructed strictly to adopt zero tolerance policy against the smuggling activities. He hoped in the results of measures taken by ASO will show improved performance during the current financial year 2019-20.
