FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized huge quantity of betel nuts worth Rs 6.5 million.
Deputy Director Muhammad Khayal while talking with Customs Today said following the information shared by Director Syed Asad Raza Rizvi that an attempt to smuggle banned betel nuts will be made via Jhang Road Faisalabad.
Khayal said that anti-smuggling squad established a secret check-post near Ayub Research Chowk Jhang Road and intercepted a truck which was coming from Peshawar. During the search the I&I team recovered 600 kilograms foreign origin betel nuts.
He said that the seized betel nuts were imported in violation of customs rules and regulations. A case is registered and further investigations are still underway.
