FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad Range Office has released detained consignment worth Rs 59.97 million after receiving an evaded amount of duties and taxes. The said consignments were intercepted during the month of September 2019.
According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad intercepted a foreign origin miscellaneous items loaded on container. Customs intelligence Faisalabad team was deployed in different areas of city for making routine examination of the loaded goods.
During the examination of the loaded goods, Customs Intelligence staff captured the container loaded with foreign origin goods and asked them to produce the legal documents of the items. The driver of the container provided the clearance documents of the imported goods to Customs teams for verification of their goods. Customs Intelligence found differential difference during the examination of the imported goods.
The consignment released by the Customs Intelligence consisted of foreign origin roof insulants Bitumen worth Rs 2.21 million, f/o dry coconut and trailer Rs 23.60 million, f/o almonds Rs 23.80 millions and f/o ‘zeera’ and almonds Rs 10.35 million.
The above-mentioned consignments were impounded by the Customs Intelligence due to evasion of customs duty of Rs 14.5 million, sales tax Rs 16.69 million, income tax Rs 12 million and minor penalty of regulatory duty Rs 16.74 million.
The tax evasion detected by the team comprised Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, Saeed Hayat and sepoy Liaqat Ali, Wali Muhammad, Zeeshan Ajmal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad. Customs intelligence team released the detained consignment of the importer after payment of evaded tax from importer.
