FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized 59000 kilograms of smuggled kerosene oil worth Rs5,900,000 involving duty and taxes Rs1,500,000 during successful operation near Samundri.
Sources told Customs Today that the custom team have also seized a trailer bearing registration no: TLW-457 under section 157(2) of the Customs Act 1969 being used for smuggling of non-duty paid goods. The market value of the seized trailer is estimated at approximately Rs3,500,000.
It is necessary to mention here that anti-smuggling squads instigated a full scale operation against the smuggling of kerosene oil into Pakistan. It is conducting raids and special operations around its jurisdiction areas. Customs department intercepting all vehicles sorting out those carrying kerosene oil in particular and other products in general.
In this regard, the MCC is carrying out different anti-smuggling measures for seizure of non-duty paid smuggled items. Customs authorities are constantly monitoring the sensitive areas within the jurisdiction of the said MCC to intercept vehicles carrying smuggled oil.
