FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized a consignment of smuggled Rani juice worth Rs 200,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 110,000 during a crackdown.
Sources told Customs Today that the intelligence staff intercepted a trailer bearing Registration No TLR-795-Lasbela near Government Women College Road Samanabad, Faisalabad, and recovered 110 cartons of Rani juice. The trailer was coming from Karachi.
The intelligence team asked the driver namely as Najeebullah son of Zulfiqar to produce document regarding legal import of the items, but he remained failed to the same. Therefore, the officials confiscated the goods under Section 2(kk), of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 17 ibid.
Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain constituted a team, comprising of Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Naseer Ahmed, sepoys Muhammad Khalil, Shoukat Hayat, Muhammad Shabaz and Israr Ahmed to fail the smuggling attempt. The officials sent report to the adjudication for further legal action.
