FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled mobile phones worth Rs25,600,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs5,860,000 during last week of November 2017.
According to the details, the intelligence team following the directions of Director Muhammad Akram Choudhary conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region. The Customs Intelligence seized huge quantity of mobile phone from a Hino truck bearing registration no: TKA-229, and other different items.
The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969 after the owners failed to produce any document showing the legal import of the items.
The intelligence officers, including Superintendent Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, Muhammad Saleem, and Sepoys Ajmal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad participated in the raids. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal proceedings.
