FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Import branch Inspector Muhammad Yousaf conducted examination of one non customs paid and cut welded vehicle in the Customs House.
Sources told Customs Today that the Collectorate successfully conducted test of the confiscated vehicle lying at the State Ware House. That old and used Toyota Hiace van got clearance under amnesty scheme under SRO-172(1)/2013 in year 2013.
Inspector Muhammad Yousaf conducted examination and vehicle and cleared after payment of duty taxes and completed of all formalities. Toyota Hiace van bearing registration number LH119-0087696 model 1994 horse power 2446-CC was again present before the customs staff for issuance of NOC.
During inspection of the said vehicle suspicion arises that the chassis number of the vehicle seemed to be cut and welded. Therefore the vehicle was detains for forensic laboratory test under section 2(KK) read with Section 186 of the Customs Act 1969. The inspector conducted comprehensive inspection of the seized vehicle during their examination.
The seized foreign origin vehicle case was forwarded to Customs Adjudication for their proper trial and after conclusion of trial this confiscated vehicle were lying in the State Warehouse of Faisalabad Customs.
Collector Asif Mahmood Jah appreciated performance of Inspector Muhammad Yousaf carried out the examination which includes Toyota Hilux van. The Customs authorities are carrying out legal process for documentation of the confiscated vehicle.
It is also important to mention that forensic examination is one of the necessary requirement for the auction of any confiscated vehicle before its auction. During examination process of the laboratory experts have examined this vehicle chassis number engine parts and other configurations of the vehicle very closely to determine their legal status.
