FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) team started crackdown against smuggling. The ASO team seized of foreign origin plastic shopping bags worth Rs 10 million.
Deputy Collector Preventive Amjad Aman Leghari while disclosing the crackdown details said that he was shared a secret information with Collector Preventive Muhammad Saleem and Superintendent Muhammad Anjum Sheraz who formed anti-smuggling squad comprising Inspector Muhammad Waqas and Muhammad Ashraf Qazi.
The team intercepted a truck bearing registration number: TKB 451 and recovered plastic shopping bags which were being smuggled out of Faisalabad. ASO team arrested the accused persons and registered separate cases against them.
The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969 after the owners failed to produce any document showing the legal import of the items.
However seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action. The deputy collector told that Collector Muhammad Saleem appreciated the crackdown conducted by anti-smuggling squad.
