FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti- Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded a Hino truck loaded with non-duty paid almonds. Total estimated worth of the goods is Rs 51.7 million.
The Customs official informed Customs Today that after pursuance of authentic information received from Additional Collector (Preventive) a team was constituted by the Superintendent Muhammad Anjum Sheraz and inspector Muhammad Nasir Saeed.
The ASO team and intercepted a truck bearing registration no: TAC-828 Lasbella loaded with foreign origin 25.85 tons of smuggled almonds. The truck was coming from Quetta and its final destination was Faisalabad.
The Aso team comprising Inspector Azhar Zaheer, Nasir Saeed, Qazi Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Waqas, Masood Cheema and others sepoys took part in operation. Faisalabad ASO seized these items on the violation of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89(i) and 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
The anti-smuggling squad shifted the goods at State Warehouse while case has been forwarded to the Investigation and Prosecution (I and P) department for further investigation. It is necessary to mention here that Deputy Collector Amjad Aman is taking every possible measure to curb smuggling activities in the region. Collector Muhammad Saleem also hailed the performance of ASO and said that ASO teams showed outstanding performance.
