FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement collected Rs775.21million during April 2017 against the set target of Rs995.43million, so the shortfall is Rs220million.
The Customs Appraisement collected customs duty, sales tax, income tax and federal excise duty during said period.
According to the statistics available data with Customs Today, it collected Rs214.60million as customs duty against the set target of Rs182.40million and surpassed the target by 118 percent.
The collectorate also surpassed the target set for sales tax which is more than 71 percent. It collected Rs553.20million against the set target of Rs781million. The Customs Appraisement also collected Rs7.41million in the wake of income tax during said period against the set target of Rs32million and surpassed the target by Rs 23 percent. The appraisement branch could not make collection in the wake of federal excise duty (FED) against the target of Rs0.03million.
Customs Appraisement Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan said the customs department has already sent notices to a number of tax defaulters in the recent months asking them to clear outstanding tax dues at the earliest to avoid stern action.
