CAIRO: Customs forces in Sallum village, east of the border with Libya, foiled an attempt to smuggle Egyptian currency and copper, media reported here the other day.
By searching a vehicle coming from Libya, more than a ton of copper of 80,000 EGP ($10,227) were found and seized.
Also, in an attempt to smuggle cash, customs found 39,000 EGP with a lorry driver heading to Libya.
A police report was made for evasion of custom duties and the necessary legal procedures were taken.
