KARACHI: Exporters have convinced the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on zero rated sales tax for all export products like before from the registered units. On the other hand, the exporters have agreed to pay six percent general sales tax if they sell or purchase unfinished products from unregistered units.
According to sources, a delegation of the exporters held a meeting with the senior officials of the FBR on the issue of increased general sales tax. The delegation was of the view that if the general sales tax is increased then the exports will fall due to which economy will also bear losses.
The FBR is looking for steps to increase revenue collections during the fourth quarters of the fiscal year 2015-2016 to meet the target; increasing the general sales tax was also a step by the FBR to boost revenue, sources added.
During the meeting the exporters also shared their grievances with the senior officials of Federal Board of Revenue regarding the duty drawback and refund claims, sources added.
