LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started action against owners and directors of Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills.
Sources told Customs Today that a team of the FBR officials raided H-Block of Model Town to arrest Hafiz Irfan Butt, Mustafa Raza and other directors of the sugar mills involved in this case. The Investigation and Prosecution Warrants Wing of Large Taxpayer Unit of the FBR has started action to arrest owners of Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills in excise duty evasion scam. All wanted persons were not found by the raiding party.
Meanwhile, the Special Federal Court of Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling issued arrest warrants of Haseeb Waqas and other directors of Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills.
Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills is allegedly involved in evasion of excise duty and Federal Board of Revenue registered a case against directors of the company in this regard.
According to sources, Haseeb Waqas is a relative of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
