ISLAMABAD: The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has compiled a Directory having profile of almost 150 leading engineering goods exporters from sub-sectors to strengthen and promote the industry. The Directory – first of its kind is being widely circulated to all foreign diplomatic missions, Pakistan’s missions aboard, local and foreign chambers of commerce & industries, associations and all relevant organizations engaged in promoting and enhancing exports.
According to the Ministry of Industries officials, the directory would not only prove to be a tool for enhancing scope of trade activities but also bring opportunities for business development and networking between local engineering industry and other international organizations. Enumerating other initiatives, the officials said that the Engineering Development Board (EDB) also planned assisting and collaborate with Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) in providing skills and vocational training opportunities in light engineering sector which is one of the important and significant sector.
The EDB, in collaboration with PSDF, is conducting skills need assessment exercise to assess the skill needs of light engineering sector.
After successful completion of skill for jobs 2012-13, PSDF has launched the skill for jobs 2014 and it targets imparting training to 22,000 candidates.
