ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has on Monday approved Rs 100 million to bear expenses caused by Azadi March.
Finance Adviser Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh chaired the ECC session in which it has been decided that Rs 60 million will be paid to container owners. The ECC stated that a permanent solution must be found to deal with sit-ins and long marches.
Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh proposed that government should itself buy containers as crores of rupees are unnecessarily paid to container owners every time.
Sources familiar with the matter informed that supplementary grant of Rs6 billion for Utility Stores Corporation has been approved in the meeting.
Other important proposals, including exemption of sales tax on cottonseed oil cake and technical supplementary grant of Rs7.9 billion were also reviewed in the meeting.
