DUBAI: As a part of its efforts to revive the popular heritage of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai Customs celebrated the World Heritage Day within its headquarter on Thursday, under the theme “No Past.. No Future”, in the presence of H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musbih, director of Dubai customs, Abdullah al-Mutairi, an adviser at Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Engineer / Rashad Bukhash, Director of Architectural Heritage Department at Dubai municipality, and representatives of Trakhees, DP World, Economic Zones World and Jebel Ali free zone Authority.
H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih thanked the governmental bodies which attended the celebration, stressing the importance of preserving the the heritage of UAE, and transferring such deep-rooted traditions to the new generations. He added that World Heritage Day offers an opportunity to raise the public’s awareness about our cultural heritage and the efforts DC makes to protect and conserve it.
The attendees paid attribute to the efforts of DC in preserving UAE authentic heritage and history, as evidenced by the events being held by DC in which H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih along with DC staff celebrate the UAE historical legacy.
The event organized by DC celebrating the World Heritage Day included handicraft workshops, and heritage gallery to showcase a selection of
heritage treasures and tools used in the past by our ancestors, which provides a unique opportunity to get up close with objects that tell UAE’s story.
In conclusion, H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih handed over thanking certificates to the representatives of the governmental bodies attended the ceremony. The attendees enjoyed the delicious traditional food dishes, and folk songs, in addition to the heritage competition.
