PESHAWAR: Distributors of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) held a meeting with Commissioner Inland Revenue Regional Tax Office Tariq Arbab and discussed various issues.
During the meeting it was decided that no adverse action will be taken on the basis of information emanating from providing of CNIC under the Sales Tax Act, 1990 till September 30, 2019, however provision of CNIC/NTN by the buyers of FMCG goods is still binding.
It was decided that while making supplies to the government department’s e.g. army mess run by army unit themselves, the government departments have already obtained Free Tax Numbersm, so the same should be used for such purpose.
While making supplies are made to government department’s canteen’s run by private contractors, CNIC/NTN of the contractor is required to be furnished.
The matter of distributors of FMCG registered in FATA/PATA is policy matter and to be forwarded to FBR for clarification.
