KARACHI: The Directorate General of Reforms and Automation has sent a letter to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) seeking approval about the business requirements to initiate the automation of E-form.
Customs Today has learnt that Directorate General of R&A Director Abdul Majid Yousfani has written a letter to SBP Director Foreign Exchange Operations Amjad Manzoor.
The letter, which is actually a reminder, accompanies business requirements for the approval by the central bank so the directorate could initiate the process to help implement the automation of the E-form on WeBOC.
The SBP has shown keen interest in the automation of E-form because it would not only help keep track of proceeds from exports, but also help eradicate misuse by computerisation of E-form, which is being filled manually.
A two-member R&A team led by Yousfani gave a presentation to the SBP officials on 27 October about the benefits and the technicalities of the automation of E-form that every exporter has to fill. The digitalisation of the E-form process would help SBP reconcile the foreign exchange proceeds from exports and to take action in case of any discrepancies.
The automation process involves attaching the approval of commercial banks with the goods declarations (GDs) and the automation would help track the receiving of foreign exchange under each of the E-form, thereby ensuring reconciliation of foreign exchange received for every export order sent from the country.
Meanwhile, the directorate has also organised a two-day training programme for the staff, particularly cashiers of five new additional branches of the National Bank of Pakistan have been allowed to receive duty and taxes. They include main branch, Karachi Stock Exchange branch, Awami Markaz branch at Sharah-e-Faisal and Korangi Industrial Area branch.
The training session would be held from 10am to 1pm on 26 and 27 November at the conference room of the directorate at Customs House, Karachi.
