KARACHI: The Directorate of Reforms and Automation-FBR has finalized and completed its working on “Vehicle Assessment Module”.
The sources in FBR informed Customs Today the said module is being tested now and after this pilot phase it will be run with complete authority by the end of next week.
He further informed this scribe that a Goods Declaration (GD) regarding the clearance of vehicles has already been filed in Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Appraisement-East and after its clearance the module will run officially.
Commenting on the module, the senior officers of Pakistan Customs said that the automatic assessment of vehicles on fixed duty would be executed under WeBOC, computerized system as per SRO 577/2014.
He further said that the examination, assessment and passport verification would be done under the automated system in “Vehicle Assessment Module”.
“Pakistan Customs is planning the speedy clearance of vehicles and implementation of the said module will also decrease the involvement of staffers in the clearance”, he added.
He further disclosed that some quarters were against the introduction of “Vehicle Assessment Module” in the system just for their vested interest. However; the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs-FBR were determined to introduce the system.
“All three collectorates of Pakistan Customs will clear vehicles through “Vehicle Assessment Module” as per SRO577”, he added.
Replying to a question, the officer divulged that the said module would be implemented in couple of months in the upcountry collectorates.
