GWADAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation team foiled attempt to smuggle 152,420 liters of diesel/kerosene oil, which was being transported in the garb of white oil cleared from Collectorate of Customs Quetta.
According to the details, Director Irfan Javed received credible information that un-scrupulous elements had cleared huge quantity of foreign origin diesel/kerosene oil in the garb of white spirit. He immediately directed relevant staff to enhance patrolling.
During checking of vehicles the team asked drivers to produce legal documents regarding transportation of HSD. However, GDs were produced by them which showed details of import of white spirit from MCC, Quetta. As per the GDs the weights of the white spirit were 41,650 kilograms, 28,370 kilograms, 37,750 kilograms & 44,950 kilograms respectively.
Since there were no proper arrangements for the physical examination of the loaded goods, the said trailers along with the browser of the goods claimed to contain white spirit, were brought to the office of the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Gaddani where thorough search was conducted.
Director Irfan Javed directed to sent samples to HEJ Laboratory and Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), for test. The reports confirmed the goods to be diesel and kerosene oil instead of white spirit. The I&I team seized the goods and further investigations are still underway.
