KARACHI: Customs Valuation Director General Syed Tanveer Ahmed, after a successful official visits to Dubai and Brussels, will reach Pakistan on Saturday.
According to officials at the directorate, the director general visited the two places to attend different sessions of the Information Technology exhibitions on the directives of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The visits remained successful as he met with the delegations of different countries and exchanged information about system put in place in their respective countries with regard to valuation and other customs-related departments.
The aim of the visit was to let the world know about the one of the best software, the Web-Based One Customs (WeBOC), which is not only made by the Pakistan Customs but is also being used in the organisation, source added.
The source also informed that Syed Tanveer Ahmed held several meeting with officials of different countries and gave presentation on the importance, need and the data management through WeBOC software.
Without giving numbers, the source further stated that the delegates of different countries appreciated the WeBOC software and showed their interest in adopting the same in their respective countries, which is yet another honour for Pakistan, especially its Customs Department.
It is also expected that some foreign delegates would visit Pakistan soon to see the functioning of the software, whereas will inform Pakistan Customs regarding their requirements in the software if they agreed to acquire it, the source revealed.
It may be mentioned here that the director general reached Dubai to attend information technology exhibition here on November 1, 2016.
