KARACHI: Over two dozen Data Control Assistants (DCAs) working in the Office of Chief Coordinator, Computerization & Programming, Customs House Karachi are still awaiting promotion from BPS-10, a post they were appointed at least 28 years ago, despite the direction of the Federal Services over year-and-half ago.
The Federal Services Tribunal had directed the respondent departments including Chairman FBR Tariq Bajwa; the Chief Coordinator, Computerization & Programming, Customs House Karachi; the Secretary Establishment Division, Cabinet Secretariat, Islamabad and Secretary to GOP and Finance Division (Regulation Wing), Pak Secretariat Islamabad to resolve the long standing issue of disparity in pay scales of various classes of service of Pakistan within a period of four months among all the Federal Government employees working in the Ministries/Divisions and all Federal Government Departments in consultation with the Establishment Division and the Finance Division.
The Tribunal had also directed the Secretary Establishment Division and Secretary GOP Finance Division to decide the claim of the appellants taking into consideration its above observations and submit a compliance report to the Registrar of the Tribunal within four months.
The non-compliance of the direction is causing anxiety and distress among the appellants who are awaiting promotion from the post of Data Control Assistant from BPS-10 to BPS-16 under the designation of Data Processing Assistant. Many of them confided in Customs Today that they are seriously thinking of resorting to stage protests.
