HARROW: A scientist has pointed towards a new culprit for the extinction of the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. The scientist has also given warning that the strange force may be about to hit again.
It has been suggested by biology professor Michael Rampino of New York University that mysterious, invisible ‘dark matter’ could have been reason behind disappearance of dinosaurs. It is believed by Rampino that that life on Earth was vanished by dark matter in cycles.
According to experts, ‘Dark matter’ is considered to lurk in huge clouds in our galaxy. It is believed that the dinosaurs likely to have been vanished when Earth passed through the dark matter in the Milky Way’s disc. As per the scientist, the strange particles can cause comet impacts and core of Earth can also be heated up, as a result volcanoes can erupt all over the planet.
“The dark matter (and visible matter) in the disc gravitationally disturb the Oort Cloud of comets at the extreme edge of the solar system, and some fall inward towards the Sun”, said Rampino.
It has been said that volcanic eruptions can also be caused by dark matter particles.Dark matter particles can be easily passed on to Earth. When it is gravitationally captured, energy is lost and it falls to the center of the Earth. According to the scientist, he believes that at present Earth is within the Milky Way’s disc and it’s a danger zone that can cause comet strikes and volcanic eruptions. It has been suggested by various scientists that presently we are in a comet shower.
