ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Tuesday chaired a meeting regarding budget proposals of the Ministry of National Food Security with regard to the budget 2015-16.
Dar was briefed in detail by Secretary National Food Security, Seerat Asghar about the areas which needed due focus of the government. He said the proposals put forth by the Ministry were all aimed at ensuring food security for the people at large and measures through which agriculture produce could be enhanced.
The minister said the government during the last two budgets had accorded due consideration to the agriculture sector as it deemed development of agriculture sector a key to overall economic progress. He said the government would extend due importance to this sector in the next budget also. Upkeep of the farmers’ community was government’s priority, he added
Secretary Finance, Waqar Masood, Advisor Finance Division, Rana Assad Amin, Member National Assembly, Zahid Hamid, Chairman FBR, Tariq Bajwa and additional secretary to minister for finance, Tariq Mehmood Pasha also attended the meeting.
