Dar reaffirms pledge to privatisation of sick PSEs

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar asked the Privatisation Commission to evolve a strategy to balance the competing objectives of maximising benefits of privatisation to the country and ensure of rights of all employees of Public Sector Entities (PSEs), saying that the government was committed to the privatisation of all sick and loss making PSEs in a transparent manner in national interest.

He stated this during a briefing on the progress made by the Privatisation Commission so far. The Finance Minister emphasised that the disinvestment of PSEs should be carried out through strategic partnership, pointing out that currently national and international capital markets were buoyant and the country must benefit from the confidence of the investors in present government.

On the occasion, Privatisation Commission Chairman Muhammad Zubair assured the Finance Minister that all legal and codal formalities would be adhered to and transparency would be its hallmark. The meeting was also attended besides the Privatisation Commission Chairman and senior officials of the Finance and Privatisation ministries.
