KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has decided to install close circuits cameras at Jinnah International Airport to keep an eye on the suspects.
Customs sources told Customs Today that Pakistan Customs has started implementation on the plane to install CCTV cameras at the arrival and departure of the Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) to widen the security blanket against the smugglers.
Source said that cameras are installed at the Karachi Jinnah Airport but some areas are security threat and a save passage for culprits where the places are naked and are out of the reach of the cameras.
After the rejection of the civil aviation authority the customs authorities are now going to install camera where they want surveillance must beefed up to avoid any chance of smuggling. The command and control system of the CCTV cameras being installed at the airport will be under the supervision of the Customs officers, added the source.
On the other hand the Customs has also risen the checking and scrutiny of the different flights especially Dubai bond flights due to the recent incident drugs recovered from the PIA flight recovering, the source informed.
On the higher authorities Customs is pursuing a widely campaign against smugglers as well as smuggling out of foreign currency and inbound smuggling of gold. Additional staff have also been deployed at the airports across the country to check and scan passengers, said the source.
