LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has received an investigation challan of a case of an accused held by the customs authorities from the Allama Iqbal International Airport while making an attempt to smuggle the cell-phones from China into Lahore.
As per sources of Customs Today, Naveed Bhatti was arrested by the Customs Preventive when the authorities seized 170 assorted android mobile phones from his luggage at the Lahore airport. The passenger was coming from China, sources told Customs Today.
On suspicion, customs authorities intercepted accused Naveed Bhatti while he was using green channel. He was asked if he had anything illegal. But he rejected the doubt cast on him by the authorities concerned. So said numbers of mobile phones were found in the bottles of water which the passenger claimed he had brought from Saudi Arabia.
The sources said the total value of the mobile phones is Rs05million. The customs authorities, confiscating the mobiles, registered a case and started further investigation.
Meanwhile due to a breakdown of electricity, a number of cases were affected in the customs court. Electricity breakdown continued since 9:00am to 5:00pm. Hundreds of other cases, scheduled for hearing in different courts of the judicial complex, were also rescheduled for new dates because of a serious issue of electricity breakdown.
