KARACHI: Karachi Goods Carrier Association Secretary General Muhammad Shoaib Khan has said that that unnecessary interference by Customs Intelligence and Land Customs is badly affecting their business.
“The officials stop our vehicles and demand bribe. These things create troubles for us,” he added. Talking Exclusively to Customs Today, he said that if Pakistan Customs does not stop these officials from demanding bribes, we will have no option but to close our business which will result in loss of billion of rupees to national kitty and responsibility will lie on Pakistan Customs.
Shoaib Khan said we have written letters to FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa, Member Customs, Director Customs Land and Customs Intelligence but to no avail. He said we are responsible for 95 percent cargo service throughout the country despite worst law and order.
“Transporters are not smugglers. The transporter is not responsible for any importer’s act of non-paying customs duty and we condemn such activities,” Shoaib maintained. He appealed to authorities concerned to take notice of their problems and resolve them.
