SIALKOT: The Regional Tax Directorate in Gujranwala has issued tax recovery notices to 55 steal millers. The directorate has also collected Rs 500 million taxes in Gujranwala division despite the civil disobedience call given by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
According to a senior official, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has set another target of Rs 250 million for Gujranwala region till August 31, 2014. The directorate has also asked the RTO’s to submit their performance report on daily basis.
Officials also informed Customs Today that no one has so far refused to pay taxes in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
“Special recovery teams were collecting the income tax, sales tax, excise duty and withholding tax as per their recovery targets in the division,” they added.
Moreover, the FBR had fixed Rs 400 million as income tax and Rs 350 million as sales tax targets in Gujranwala. The regional directorate has issued the recovery notices to 55 steal millers for the recovery of Rs 150 million taxes in August, 2014.
