PESHAWAR: The Customs Department seized huge cache of hashish and opium worth millions of rupees during last one week crackdown against narcotics smugglers and drug mafia and arrested two accused on the spot.
According to Custom authorities, a truck was been intercepted by the Custom raiding party on the mid night of January 25-26 following information about smuggling of narcotics to down the country from tribal areas. During search of secret cavities of the vehicle, the custom authorities found and seized 1210 Kg hashish and arrested one accused on the spot.
In another incident, 248 Kg hashish and eight Kg opium were recovered from a pickup during a raid on January 27-28 mid night and the driver was arrested on the spot. Both the raids were successfully conducted on GT Road Nowshera.
