KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) of MCC-Preventive has seized 6 kilogram heroin powder from an abandoned hand bag at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.
According to the details, the DEC staff in pursuance of credible information intercepted an abandoned hand bag at Customs Mis-handled Baggage Section of Jinnah International Airport.
As per tags attached to it, the hand bag had lastly arrived from Muscat by the flight PK-226 of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as unclaimed.
Having intercepted, the bag was examined which led to the recovery of 2 packets of heroin, secretly kept in the bottom of the hand bag under personal clothing. The heroin powder was found to be 6 kg.
Consequent upon the recovery and seizure of contraband item (heroin), a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997 has been registered and efforts are being made to apprehend the mafia involved in the offence.
