LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive anti-smuggling squad recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid sofa cloth from Gowalmandi.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Ahmad Rauf received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid cloth is dumped in a godown. He directed Additional Collector Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and Assistant Collector Salman Javed to take action. Assistant collector constituted anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Superintendent Shahid Naseem Joya which also comprises Inspector Agha Sultan Haider, Inspector Shahzad Ishaq, Inspector Zulqarnain Sohail, Inspector Zia Bhatti and Inspctor Mohammad Saleem.
The above-mentioned anti-smuggling squad after obtain search warrants raided on a godown located in Gowalmandi and recovered 13000 kilograms of non-duty paid sofa cloth. Sources told that anti-smuggling squad transported the recovered sofa cloth to Shah Noor godown. The market value of recovered curtain cloth is approximately Rs20 million.
Customs anti-smuggling squad after registering a case started further investigations.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Ahmad Rauf directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling.
