KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive recovered 820 kilograms ketamine from a godown located in Maripur area.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Saquif Saeed received credible information about storage of huge quantity of ketamine in Maripur. He immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad. The Squad raided the godown and recovered 820 kilograms ketamine which was tactfully hidden in packets and placed in drums. Sources told that net value of recovered narcotics in international market is Rs820 million.
It is necessary to mention here that ketamine is being used in manufacturing of cocaine. The anti-smuggling squad impounded the entire consignment of cocaine and shifted it to customs warehouse. Customs Preventive team after registering a case against owner godown started investigations.
Earlier, on 14.11.2020, Customs Preventive foiled bid to smuggle of foreign origin smuggled cloth which were dumped at warehouses in Aram Bagh area.
The anti-smuggling squad checked the suspected warehouses, which led to recovery of 1.25 tons of Silk Chiffon worth Rs4.6 million; 9.7 tons of Georgette worth Rs16.38 million and 500kg of polyester net worth Rs0.68 million. Total value of the seized cloth is Rs21.66 million.
