LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid Iranian origin smuggled iron bards from a godown located near Bund Road.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Ahmad Rauf received credible information that huge quantity of iron bards of foreign origin dumped in a godown near Ring Road. He directed Deputy Collector Muhammad Ashfaq, Hassan Fareed to take necessary measures. An anti-smuggling squad was constituted comprising Superintendent Zafrullah Khan, Sohail Murtaza, Ashfaq Hamdani, Maqsud, Zia Bhatti, Agha Sultan, Shahzad Ishaq and others.
The above mentioned anti-smuggling squad raided a godown and recovered huge quantity of Iranian origin iron bars 80 tons, petroleum jelly weighing 27825 kilograms. The security guard of the godown failed to provide any legal documents regarding storage of the goods.
The anti-smuggling squad seized the entire goods and after registering a case started further investigations. The value of detained goods is Rs20.5 million approximately.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Ahmad Rauf directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling.
