KARACHI: Collectrate of Customs staff deputed at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) apprehended three smugglers along with narcotics.
According to the details, on the tip-off by higher authorities, staff of Customs Collectrate (MCC) Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) posted at International Departure beefed up the surveillance to thwart any attempt of smuggling.
During the checking, the staff of the Customs team intercepted three passengers including two women and inquired regarding the travel documents whereas they carried out complete search of the luggage.
While checking the Customs staff recovered 570 grams of crystal methamphetamine as well as 170 grams of heroin powder worth Rs 7.4 million in international market.
The customs team informed Customs Today that the said drugs were concealed in three suit cases of up-country (Rohri and Sukkur) passengers including two ladies who were travelling to Jeddah by Pakistan International Airline Flight No.731.
The culprits successfully crossed Airport Security Force counter but they were intercepted by vigilant staff of Customs at International Departure and recovery of narcotics was made by them. All three accused persons were arrested, added customs officer.
An FIR against the accused has been lodged to initiate investigations with a view to apprehending culprits or financiers and collaborators behind this abominable act. The recovered 570 grams crystal, methamphetamine and 170 grams of heroin powder have been shifted to Drug Enforcement Cell (HQ) Jinnah International Airport (JIAP).
