ISLAMABAD: Customs North Region Additional Collector Arshad Khan has said that the Customs North region has surpasses revenue target for first half of financial year 2019-20 by collecting Rs32,605 million against the assigned revenue target.
Talking with Customs Today he said that in keeping up with the vision of current government to maximize revenue collection through concerted efforts and business friendly approach, the customs region north surpassed its revenue collection target for the first six months of the current financial year July to December 2019-20 by the margin of Rs405 million.
He said that the region earned Rs32,605 million against the allocated target of Rs32,200 million under all heads of duty and taxes, the said collection also exceeded by an impressive margin of 27% i.e. Rs6964 million collected against collection of Rs25641 million during the same correspondence period of the last financial year.
Under the head of CD (Customs Duty) the region collected an amount of Rs12044 million while Rs719 million 6% increase against the assigned target of Rs11325 million, the collection is also in access by an impressive margin of Rs2221 million against the collection made during the corresponding period of the financial year for example Rs9823 million, thus recording a healthy growth of 23%.
Similarly an amount of Rs13,357 million was collected under the head of ST (sales tax) during the correspondence period as compare to Rs9861 million during the corresponding period of the financial year which is 35% higher.
Arshad Khan said that the Customs north region comprises Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, MCC Preventive and Appraisement Peshawar covering the whole area of KP (Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa) a s well as the merged districts of erstwhile FATA, through said all the four Collectorates of Customs region North contributed significantly in successfully attaining their respective revenue and seizures targets.
He told that Customs Gilgit Baltistan showed outstanding performance on the revenue collection side, the Collectorate was able to generate Rs5663 million against the allocated target of Rs4352 million with percentage of 141% as compare to a collection of Rs2829 million during the corresponding period of the last financial year thus recording an impressive growth of 100% over the last financial year.
He said that Chief Collector North Asif Mehmood Jah attributed this achievement the untiring hard work of all the officers and staff of the region under the dynamic leadership of Syed Shabber Zadhi Chairman FBR and Dr Jawwad Uwais Agha Member Customs (Operations) who maintained a strong vigilance and encouraged the staff by issuing regular instruction for maximizing revenue through goods clearance, conducting regular auctions, recovery of arrears and encasement of bank guarantees.
